You Can Make A Difference

Leadership & Life Coach for Women's Issues

Anita Roddick once said if you think you are too small or insignificant to make a difference, then you have never been in a bed with a mosquito. I like that. It reminds me of the story I heard about a young man who had Downs syndrome. This young man was a bagger at a local grocery store. He had a heart to help people and wanted to make a difference in life, so he decided that he would cut out inspirational quotes from the newspaper and put a quote in each of his customer’s bag. Every night when he got home from work, he would ask his dad to help him cut out quotes from the newspaper. At the store the next day, he would place a quote in each customers’ bag. Well, it didn’t take long for this young man to be the most popular bagger in the store. Lines would form just to have him bag your groceries. In fact, one woman would frequent the store daily, not because she needed groceries, but because she wanted the inspirational quote.

Isn’t it amazing what a small act of kindness can accomplish? Mother Theresa once said that small acts done in great love can change the world. I believe they can. What about you? Think you lack gifts or are too insignificant to make a difference in this life? Think again.
