Finding Your Passion

Breakthrough Life Coach for Women's Issues

Many of the women that I coach want something more out of life. The problem occurs when I ask these women what they are passionate about. Many stare at me absolutely clueless. Unfortunately, this is not only true for the women I coach but seems to be the issue for many women in our world today. In fact, statistics bear this out. In a recent poll that Oprah did, 70% of women couldn’t tell what they were passionate about. Okay, time to get re-acquainted with ourselves and our passions! Here are four questions to think about.

1. What do you love? What do you enjoy? Passion can be born out of the things that you love. You might want to make a list of 20-25 things you really enjoy as to way to get started. Sometimes we have become so busy with life that we have forgotten what gives us pleasure and what we enjoy.

2. What do you love doing? Finding our passion is all about discovering what we enjoy doing and do well at the same time. Sometimes it helps to read our lives backwards. What did you enjoy doing as a child? Eric Hoffer once said it is in the playground where we discover the creative genius and talents of an individual. Did you know that Steven Spielberg made movies as a child? Maybe there are some powerful clues that you are ignoring. What did you excel in as a teen or young adult? What do your friends say that you do well?

3. How can you make a difference? Stephen Covey asks a great question… “Do you have what the world needs?” We feel most alive and joyful in this life when we realize that our gifts and passions are making a difference and helping someone else. How could you unite what you love and do well with serving a cause greater than yourself?

4. Are you excited about your life and each new day? Being excited and enthused about your life is a pretty good sign that you are tapping into your passions. Are you constantly thinking about what you want to do next? Do you lie in bed thinking of ideas, solutions, plans? When you are truly in your passion, you are in your “zone.” You are drawn to it and can’t seem to get enough of it.
