Brian Tracy, author and motivation speaker, asks a very interesting question. “What one skill, if you developed and did it consistently in an excellent fashion, would have the greatest positive impact on your income?” That is a great question to consider. I don’t believe we are given more in life until we utilize and maximize to the greatest potential what we already have. Too many of us equate being busy with being effective. As my husband always says, it’s probably better to do the one “right” thing for you than “100” good things. He is a wise man!

Women are always told to make the best of, to play up and enhance their best physical features. So what about your own set of gifts or talents? How are you making the best use of those? How are you “playing up” or enhancing those gifts? Are you just busy or effective in your busy-ness? Where do you shine? If you have a musical gift, are you becoming the best musician you can be? If you have a speaking gift, are you becoming the best speaker you can be? What would happen if you majored on the majors and minored on the minors?

Sometimes we become our own worst enemies when it comes to seeing how far we can take our talents. We make excuses or hide behind our gift. In reality, who is the one that is really holding you back? Don’t you always make time for the things you really want to do? So let me ask you again. “What one skill if you developed and did it consistently in an excellent fashion would have the greatest impact on your income and your life”?
