Breakthrough Life Coach for Women's Issues
I received an Easter ecard from a Facebook friend. I have never met this person face to face but it really touched me in a profound way. I am reminded once again that often it is not the big things in life that impact people as much as the small behind the scenes gestures of kindness and love. I believe these small acts and gestures really do make a difference and make the world a better place one small act at a time. Mother Teresa said “we can do no great things, only small things with great love.” I think she was right!
It seems to me, that as a society, we have lost the ability to be gracious and generous. It really is a sad commentary when such simple expressions of gratitude and love are often too far and few to be found. No doubt the messages we have bought into as a society of entitltement and “what’s in it for me” have not only robbed us of meaningful relationships but the real simple joys of life.
I believe it is time to get back to the basics. The old expression that people don’t care how much you know and until they know how much you care is really true. Time to make new relationships, restore old ones and capture the joy of living again. Time to smile, pick up the phone, reach out and write that card that you have been meaning to write. Do something spontaneous and zaney just because you can. Buy a stranger a cup of coffee. Give a flower to your banker. You never know what an encouraging gesture or word could do and the ripple effect it could have in the lives of others as well as your own life.
If you feel like you need some more warm and fuzzies in your own life, then why not start with yourself? Give yourself a big hug and then consider what do you do have and what is right with your life. No matter where we are in life, there is always someone who has it worst than you and I. Come to think of it, it’s really difficult to be grateful and depressed at the same time? So my friend, let the gratitutde flow and let it spill out on those around you. Reach out and touch and see if you can’t make a difference and change the world one person at a time!
