De-Clutter Your Life...

Breakthrough Life Coach for Women's Issues

One important coaching principle that I talk with my clients about is the idea of de-cluttering your life. To make room for new things and even the dreams that we have, we often need to de-clutter our physical, emotional and mental environments. What do I mean? I am really talking about getting rid of the things that clutter our physical, emotional and mental space and keep us from being productive and moving forward with our goals and dreams. What is standing in the way of your dreams or projects? Could it be a messy or cluttered physical space? It is very difficult to work or be creative on top of your kitchen counter. It is also hard to move forward when you are bogged down mentally with too many distractions or you are just too physically tired or drained emotionally. I find that If you want to accomplish goals or dreams you have to make room for them in many areas of life.

Many years ago, James Allen wrote the very popular book, “As A Man Thinketh.” In this book he states, “All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts.” That’s a very powerful statement! According to Allen, where we are in life is in direct proportion to our thoughts. So if you have a question about your progress in life maybe you should ask yourself what are my thoughts like?

The Four P’s of Leadership...

What does it take to become a great leader? No doubt one could list many components and qualities of a great leader, but there seems to be a pattern of qualities that emerge over and over again in great leaders. I call them the four P’s of leadership. They are: Perspective, Persistence, Patience, and Preparation.

Perspective – Life is always about perspective. At the end of the day, what matters is how a person views the circumstances in their life. One person sees a glass half empty and another sees it half full. One person views obstacles and another sees challenges or growth opportunities to overcome. A great leader learns to control the one thing they can control and that is their own thinking and perspective. A great leader learns how to control their internal world in order to make a difference and affect the outside world.

Leading Women Who Wound...

leadingwomenIt has often been said, that “Christianity is the only army that shoots its own wounded.” It is not something we like to talk about and often wish would go away, but the pain that men and women experience behind the closed doors of ministry can be quite devastating. It is ever so devastating because it often comes disguised in the form of “sheep’s clothing.”

Sue Edwards and Kelley Matthews have taken on the tough subject “Leading Women Who Wound.” It is much more than a “how to” book or documentary on the subject. While there is plenty of helpful and “how to” information, it really is a book born out of life experiences. Sue and Kelley have shared their heart and their stories. They have given us not only a peek into the heart and soul of women but a look into their own lives, their struggles and the lives of many women they have encountered along the way.

What makes a good leader?

1 – A Visionary
A good leader knows where they are headed and has a plan and intentionally works that plan.

2 – A Good Communicator
A good leader just doesn’t talk at or talk down but talks with a person.  A good leader also masters the art of listening and does not run from or avoid conflict.

3 – A Person of Integrity
A leader keeps their word and honors their commitments. They say what they mean and mean what they say.

4 – Knows how to delegate
A good leader recognizes that micro-managing is a death sentence to any organization.  An effective leader leads and allows others to flourish in their abilities and giftings.
